Conference opening and welcome

This is the official welcome to the Convention. Speakers will include:

Farewell BBQ

The BBQ will be held at the Tamworth Astronomy and Science Centre (TASC).
It can be found in Victoria Park, East Tamworth, via the gate at the eastern end of Piper Street.
The TASC is opposite the Tamworth Botanic Gardens.

NACAA dinner, awards and after-dinner speaker

Dinner will be held at our venue, Diggers. Drinks will be available at your own cost at the bar prior to the formal part of the evening.
After dinner, the ASA representative will announce the winner of the Berenice and Arthur Page Medal for 2026. This will be followed by our after-dinner speaker Fred Watson.

Farewell BBQ and awards

CWAS & NACAA

The NACAA Farewell BBQ, being held at the famous “DISH”, is a chance to wind down at the end of a busy and exciting weekend.

During the event, the Astral Award for best presenter will be announced and the handover will occur to the new Local Organising Committee for the next NACAA in 2026.

Attendance at the BBQ is included in the main registration package.

And don’t forget that TTSO18 – The Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations will be held on Easter Monday.

Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception is a chance to meet up with old friends, make new ones, and to get ready for the Convention.

The venue for the 2024 reception is the Bushman’s Motor Inn, 9-13 Peakhill Road, Parkes

Finger food will be served and drinks may be purchased from the bar. If you have specific dietary requirements, please advise in the comments field of the registration form or contact the Convenor.

Attendance at the Welcome Function is included in the main registration package.

Convention Dinner

The convention dinner will be held in the Starlight Room of the Services Club (the main conference venue). Drinks will be available from the cash bar. Arrival from 19:00 with a 19:30 start.

The 2024 Berenice and Arthur Page Medal will be presented by the Astronomical Society of Australia.

If you are registering for more than one adult or child (14+), please add additional names in the order comments field.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please advise in the order comments field of the registration form.

Attendance at the dinner is included in the main registration package.

Group photo

An important part of every NACAA is herding the attendees into an ellipse and taking their photo. Join the group or miss your place in NACAA history. Please offer the webmaster money if you want to be one of the foci.
