About NACAA Inc
Since it commenced in 1967, the National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers has encouraged people from around Australia to share their knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the diverse aspects of amateur astronomy.
It was decided at the 22nd NACAA in 2006 to form an incorporated body to ensure that this tradition will continue on into the future.
The new body consists of three main parts:
- A national Secretariat composed of seven members,
- A Programme Committee to oversee the content of the convention, and
- A Local Organising Committee to manage the local arrangements.
The new Secretariat hopes that this expanded structure will ensure the continued success of NACAA, and allow it to expand its role by supporting other conferences and workshops, and to improve communication between amateur and professional astronomical bodies in Australia and beyond.
