PixInsight: More Advanced Topics

This workshop will cover intermediate and advanced processing techniques for processing astronomical images in PixInsight. It assumes a basic working knowledge of processing in PI, either from previous use or attending Friday's PixInsight Introduction workshop.

Topics to be explored include narrowband colour, noise reduction, deconvolution and sharpening, PixelMath, advanced masking and making your image pop. Audience requests will also be entertained if time permits.

Attendee requirements: 
Own laptop with PixInsight installed. Trial PI licenses can be requested at the PixInsight web site.

Rick Stevenson is a keen amateur astrophotographer, regularly travelling to dark sites around South-East Queensland on new moon weekends. He also shares remote observatories in California, New Mexico and Chile. He is a member of the PixInsight "PTeam" and has contributed to the development of PI. Rick has been processing astronomical images in PI since 2011 and there are many examples here. Rick is a professional "computer geek." He recently retired from his day job as Chief Research Officer of an Australian-owned US technology company and is still an Adjunct Professor in the school of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland.
