Observing Meteors using MetRec

METREC is one of several real time computer based video meteor detection and recording systems. Developed by Sirko Molau from Germany, it forms the basis of the International Meteor Organisation (IMO) Video Meteor Network - a quickly growing network of cameras predominantly across Europe but with new cameras being added around the world. Commencing in January 2010, I have been running a very successful camera from my backyard just north of Rockhampton, Queensland. This talk will cover some of the challenges and results obtained from two years of observations in the hope of inspiring additional observers from the Southern Hemisphere.
