Astronomy 3.0

Peter Lake

VSS, AAVSO, iTelescope.net

Astronomy 3.0 covers the history of citizen science from the earliest SETI and Skywatch FMO projects through to today's cloud-based astronomy tools and internet connected telescopes. Peter Lake is a VSS and AAVSO member and facilitates the iTelescope.net partnership with Arizona University for Target Asteroids. Peter has used internet connected telescopes in the classroom with high-school students, assisted the VSS Junior Chapter, whilst doing his own asteroid and variable star contributions. A 1 hour session culminates in a live asteroid hunt (weather permitting) and demonstration of the tools of citizen science using iTelescope.net's connected telescopes.
